Swiss Coding Academy and AIESEC Vietnam Host Joint Data Storytelling Workshop for Youth Leaders

Empowering Students Through Meaningful Collaboration

Swiss Coding Academy partnered with AIESEC Vietnam to deliver a 1.5-hour Data Storytelling workshop designed to equip young leaders with the ability to turn raw data into clear, persuasive insights. The session brought together students eager to develop practical skills and better understand how data influences decisions in real organizations.

The workshop was led by our instructor Anh Luong, BI Specialist and experienced educator, who guided participants through both the fundamentals of Data Storytelling and hands-on analytical exercises. This event reflects our shared commitment to empowering young people with relevant, future-ready skills and building strong partnerships that support Vietnam’s growing talent ecosystem.

Inside the Workshop: From Data to Meaning

The session opened with an interactive introduction to Data Storytelling. Rather than focusing on theory alone, the lecture showed participants how a well-chosen visual or a clearly structured narrative can transform even the most complex dataset into something that resonates with decision-makers.

Students explored what makes a story compelling: clarity, focus, and the ability to highlight what truly matters. They learned how context shapes interpretation, how visuals guide attention, and how a narrative becomes the bridge between numbers and understanding.

After this foundation, the workshop shifted into applied work. Participants formed small groups and received real case studies covering topics such as marketing campaign performance, product development efficiency, and environmental impact analysis. Each case required the teams to interpret the data, extract meaningful insights, and craft a story that would make sense to a non-technical audience.

The room quickly filled with discussion. Some teams debated which metric best reflected campaign success. Others analyzed customer sentiment or compared project stages to identify bottlenecks. A few groups tackled environmental trends, searching for the patterns that would help them explain changes in biodiversity and urban impact over time.

This collaborative atmosphere brought the cases to life. Students weren't just learning about Data Storytelling — they were practicing it, negotiating interpretations, proposing angles, and discovering how their analyses could lead to different conclusions depending on the chosen narrative.

Presentations That Built Confidence

When it came time to present, participants shared their stories with clarity and enthusiasm. Each team walked the room through its logic: what the data showed, why it mattered, and how different stakeholders might interpret the insights.

The presentations highlighted not only analytical skill but also creativity and communication — qualities essential for any future leader. Anh Luong provided constructive feedback, helping students refine their messaging, improve the structure of their visuals, and think more critically about the audience they were communicating to.

By the end of the session, participants had gained not only technical understanding but also the confidence to present their ideas effectively.

Strengthening a Partnership Focused on Youth Development

This workshop represents an important milestone in the collaboration between Swiss Coding Academy and AIESEC Vietnam. Both organizations share a vision centered on empowering young people to become capable, confident, and globally minded professionals.

Through initiatives like this one, we aim to make high-quality tech education accessible, relevant, and practical. For AIESEC students, it offered a chance to experience real-world problem solving in an environment that encouraged teamwork, curiosity, and open discussion.

For us, it reaffirmed the value of investing in the next generation — not just through our main programs, but through meaningful partnerships that extend our impact beyond the classroom.

Looking Ahead

Swiss Coding Academy will continue supporting youth organizations and university communities throughout 2025. More workshops are already planned in areas such as data analytics, visualization, product thinking, and digital skills.

Our joint event with AIESEC Vietnam is just one step in a growing effort to build opportunities that help students across the country develop the skills, mindset, and confidence they need to succeed in a data-driven world.
